In 2016, founder John Pritchard embarked on his mission to develop a business that truly gave back, creating a purpose driven eyewear brand that could balance style and sustainability.
Pala’s ambition is to produce high quality, long-lasting eyewear whilst making a commitment to minimise impact on the planet and maximise positive social impact on people. For every pair of sunglasses sold, Pala give back to eye-care programmes in Africa by providing grants to vision centres, dispensaries and screening programmes. To date, thousands of sight-impaired people have had their lives changed and their ability to earn an income enhanced thanks to receiving a pair of prescription glasses.
Pala also work alongside a Ghanaian-based NGO to support weaving communities to make their protective sunglasses cases. Woven using traditional methods utilising otherwise wasted plastic destined for landfill.
The ultimate travel companion, Pala’s frames are designed for those who acknowledge the need for a better future, appreciate the world we live in and embrace the adventure of exploring it. Each style takes a classic, familiar sunglasses design and updates it with a contemporary finish. Wearable, durable and ready to get you outdoors.
This season sees the use of bio-acetate (plastic free) for the first time. Pala’s work has not gone unnoticed, recently winning the 2019 Accessory Brand of the Year at the UK’s Sustainable Lifestyle Awards, and there is much more to come.
