BIBI & ME
"When buying is actually giving"
BIBI & ME
Bibi & Me’s collection of African hand woven baskets are produced in Kenya using traditional artisan skills handed down by the bibi’s – a grandmother or lady in Swahili.
The hand woven baskets, commonly known as a kiondo, are made from natural sisal and are indigenous to the Kikuyu and Kamba tribes.
The handmade baskets are not just unique but they’re also multi-purposeful. You can use the basket as storage, a large beach bag or a large outdoor planter – it’s up to you.
Like every independent business we partner with, Bibi & Me is a mission led, socially conscious brand. With each purchase of a unique kiondo basket, you positively impact the lives of female artisans and local weaving cooperatives.
The brand is also a subset of not for profit organisation, So They Can. Their aim is to empower children living in poverty through education. To date, they have empowered over 16,500 women and children in Kenya and Tanzania through education so they can break the poverty cycle. This achieved through improved learning conditions, teacher training and development, child wellbeing, women’s empowerment and community engagement and health.
